Not Good Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5
When i read all the reviews i thought this was the one i have had many portable planers and this one didn't work right out of the box the feed rollers are not adjusted properly and since i live in nowhere land i would have to pay the shipping to get it to the nearest factory that could fix it maybe i got a lemon.

Great performance over the last 3+ years Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5
Well I've run several hundred board feet through this machine and it has functioned well over the last 3 years (as of 12/04). The machine creates a surface that only requires minimal prep before staining. Snipe is acceptable but present. The outfeed snipe can be eliminated by lifting slightly on the board as it exits the machine.

This machine would have gotten 5 stars except for the following VERY minor gripes:
- The rollers have slipped on me on several occasions during planing requiring the user to push the wood to get the rollers to catch again. This has had no negative impact to the surface of the wood.
- The Zero finder could be better (The Delta machine zero works great)
- The external depth gauge is quite rudimentary and not accurate (Even after spending much time setting it up), much like the fence on a less-expensive table saw

I've used this planer about 3 months and planed over hundreds boards feet of lumbers. So far I've completely satisfied with the performance of planer and the service of Amazon.

After I received the planer, it got stucked while planing. I have to stop the motor and release the wood piece. For some reason, planer did not work again though motor was running.
Emailed to Amazon for the problem, they replaced it in 3 days and let
UPS guy pick it up from my home. I was really surprised and satisfied
for Amazon's super fast service.

This planer makes rough surface real smooth all the time.
It sometimes leaves fine streaks but it can easily be removed by light sanding. Turning rough-sawn lumber to S4S is real easy.
It has very good height adjustment and switch is conveniently located.
Reviews for DeWalt planer say that its blades get dull real fast,
but I don't see any sign of blade problem even after planed hundreds
BF of hardwood.

As you know, it only makes the surface smooth. To make the lumber straight, need jointer, which is in my next purchase plan.
After weighing many options between planer and jointer, planer won the battle. It believes to be a good choice.

One drawback.
The machine has the hooks for the dust collection hood, so it's just a snap to install hood. Since it's not included, have to buy the hood separately for extra $23.
The collection hood works really well. After installing it, almost no dust flying around the workshop. I think this is a must have but not included in the machine.

However, there is nothing to be desired from the machin itself.
No doubt, saving big bucks by running this planer.

Perfect Benchtop Planer Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5

Perfect benchtop planer. Quieter than most. Handy cutting depth indicator lets you use a feeler gage to very accurately adjust the depth of a cut. Knives last a long time.

Very Satisfied, highly recommend Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
I've only had this planer for a short time, but I've been very satisfied so far. There is virtually no setup, it comes ready to use out of the box. There aren't a lot of fancy features, just what you need. Everything is simple and designed to work without problems. The depth stop works great for repeating the same final thickness. I seldom notice any snipe on long 10 and 12 foot boards even at 10 or 11 inchs wide, and never any snipe on smaller boards. The motor and head are very quiet compared to all other planers I've used. I still use ear-protection when actually feeding a board through as there is always a lot of noise during cutting with any planer. I bought the dust collection attachment. It is an odd size and didn't fit any of the 1 1/4, 2 1/2 or 4 inch dust collection hoses I had. I wrapped duct tape around the outside of the dust collection attachment building up the thickness about 1/2 inch all the way around and then was able to slide a 4 inch elbow over the duct tape for a tight, snug fit. This hides the duct tape and creates a good air seal without any fancy fabrication. Dust / Chip collection is fantastic and I would recommend buying the attachment immediatly with the planer. You'll spend more time cleaing up than planing if you don't. I mounted the planer to a miter saw stand with wing extensions. I turned it and mounted it sideways so the wing extensions work as extended infeed / outfeed supports. I've been very happy with this setup, and the unit doesn't slide or otherwise move when feeding in material. If you're looking for a great planer without going into the very high priced units, I think this is as good as it gets. You won't be disappointed.
