Nowhere on the product page did the seller say it's limited to 300mA. I'd return it, but shipping is more than the price of the item. car lighter AC adapter don't waste your money - it never worked - i had to throw it out Don't Bother I bought this to plug my sirius reciever in to a plug in my home. It doesnt work for that or my cell phone. It is junk an ok product. this ac to dc socket will charge cell phones, etc. but don't expect it to run a compressor or anything that needs a lot of juice. maybe for you, not for me. This didn't work for me. Admittedly I did not think it was going to. The Adapter likely has a very small usable amperage range. I tried it for a portable DVD player and it failed completely. Seemed to work fine for a cell phone though.
