Heavy Duty Sandblast Hood Description Our Heavy-Duty Sandblasting Hood features durable construction and large size to cover the head, face, neck and shoulders to protect against the impact of high velocity abrasives. Made with super-heavy 10.38 oz. army duck canvas treated with high water repellant and mildew resistance. Comes complete with an ERB Safety built-in construction type hard hat that meets ANSI Z89.1-2003 (Type 1, Class E, G & C) and complies with OSHA regulations for industrial head protection. Our product features a durable yet simple lens retention system using die-cut polyethylene and snap closure. For added protection against scratching, a metal screen fits over the replaceable clear plastic lens. The canvas helmets extra long length covers chest area, accommodating the broadest of shoulders. A sewn-in draw strap forms a gasket effect around the neck to protect against heavy concentrations of fine abrasive grit. Viewing window is a FULL 4.25 X 5.25 for easy viewing of project. Three fine screened vents on sides and back are included to prevent steaming of lens. Khaki color. Does not offer respiratory protection and should be worn with appropriate NIOSH approved respirators. One size fits all. Heavy Duty Sandblast Hood customer reviews: A Good Sandblast Hood for the Money I've done sandblasting of large car parts out in my yard for years, and have had a really flimsy hood that came with the sandblaster, and I finally decided to upgrade the hood to something that worked better. I did some research on various models, and found many good ones, but with relatively high prices. This hood impressed me with it's features as well as the price, so I ordered one. I've used it a few times now, and find it a good improvement over my past hood. The built in helmet is great for keeping the hood centered on my head, and the hood material is the right length to keep my neck and upper body protected from sandblast media. I think the hood diameter could have been slightly larger at the bottom to give me more shoulder room, but I'm a big guy at 6'4", and it does fit, just a little more snug than I'd prefer. The clear lens is protected by the wire mesh and that seems to keep sand from abrading it on the outside. The lens has fogged up on me on the inside, especially while using it on several cool October evenings, and I'm not sure any hood that isn't ventilated by a blower would do any better. I haven't tried it in hot summer weather yet, but am curious whether the built in vents will do the job of keeping me cool inside. Time will tell. Overall, it's a good sandblast hood for the money, and the quality of construction seems pretty rugged. I'd definitely recommend it to the home user or hobbyist for occasional work. However, if you're going to work in a hood daily, you probably should invest in a better unit with built in ventilation. Scarab Sandblast Hood Review I purchased the Scarab Lite model (this is the heavy duty model) while sandblasting a large steel part on a kit aircraft that I was building. This hood kept those pesky abrasive particles from abrading my face. It also worked well in the summer heat, and didn't fog up too much as I remember. I like the added screen feature of the heavy duty model because it increases the life of the lens. I haven't seen this feature on very many other models. Also, the price is right. All other hoods with similar rugged quality are quite pricey. I recommend this hood for those who need a quality product at a quality price.
