Good Sander
No reviews here at this time so here is my non-expert opinion. I just got this triton sander from Amazon and everthing was in order. Setup is easy and it works well for my usage, cleaning up curves cut in 3/4" plywood and hardwood. Construction is solid and there is minimal vibration. I will say I found it tricky at first to freehand sand to the curve you want; practise was needed. But that's the user not the machine.
The machine body has pegs and slots to hold the extra spindles (several sizes) and hardware; that's nice. Unfortunately I have no way to compare it to competing machines - but anyway I am satisfied with this one.
If it survives the delivery
You will be pleased with this machine, IF it doesn't get banged up on the way to you. Mine arrived with one of the rear corner legs crushed. It did not bend any of the metal, only plastic cover. Rather than go through the ordeal of returning it, I bolted it to the table and let 'er rip. I had returned the Wilton benchtop OS because it quit after an hour of operation..about 3 months. Amazon helped me out with it and I was able to salvage most of my costs (Thanks, Amazon guys!). I ordered this Triton because they make good stuff, as does Wilton...usually. Anyway, of the two machines, this Triton is far superior. Really strong and the dust removal works great. No complaints other than the weak packing materials they use. I'd buy another if I had to do it over again.
Broken during Shipping
I received my sander as a Christmas present. Upon close inspection I noticed the rear corner broken out and a gapping crack along the side, back to front. This unit must have fallen off a delivery truck or something. Anyway I contacted the Amazon internet site that night. They gave me instructions on how to return the unit. I printed out a shipping label (free) and a return authorization provided by Amazon. I shipped the unit back the next day and Amazon shipped a brand new unit within 6 days.
I really like the cast iron top and the smooth overall operation. I would recommend the Triton unit to anyone needing a good spindle sander at a fair price. Amazon handled the situation in a very satisfactory manner.
